Miner DATE: January 7, 2008 RE: Noncredit Expansion I am pleased to announce that we have new opportunities to increase instructional options for our students! The state permits apportionment to be earned in nine areas of noncredit and our vision is to establish pathways that could inspire and prepare students to ultimately enroll in our credit programs. As we make an institutional commitment to the expansion of noncredit programs, I would like to delineate assignment of responsibilities for the maintenance of current offerings and the development of new ones. Special Education and Lifelong Learning Institute aka Older Adult Studies These programs are housed in the Adaptive Learning Division under the leadership of Gertrude Gregorio. Gertrude will continue to administer all aspects of curriculum development, approval, scheduling, and staffing. Noncredit Programs Division (Official name yet to be determined) This will be a new division to house noncredit curricula in any of the following areas eligible for state apportionment: short-term vocational education, ESL, basic skills, parenting, immigrant education, home economics and consumer sciences, and health and safety. Denise Swett will assume administrative leadership and work with the Academic Senate to establish a division curriculum committee and faculty service areas (FSAs). She will be the primary institutional contact with the Community College Chancellors Office for noncredit programs and submit required reports. Shirley Barker will allocate FTEF from new or redirected 1320 funds. Depending upon course demand and instructor availability, sections might be offered within weeks of state approval. e hah@r>*h@r()@AZ[ d e .:p@r/ =!"#$% <@< NormalCJaJmH sH tH DAD Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k(No List()@AZ[de!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!()@AZ[de0(00000000000000000000 @r@H&8 p@UnknownGz Times New Roman5Symbol3& z Arial 1h;s&;s&9& r4d2P -2TO:Office 2004 Test Drive User %username%Oh+'0X" < H T `lt|TO:Office 2004 Test Drive User Normal.dot %username%2Microsoft Office Word@@EQ@.IV@.IVG VT$m R ."System)~ & -@Times New Roman- 2 TO:=H 2 2 ,2 F Admin CouncilH2N2C222, 2 , 2 % -2 FROM:7CHY 2 % !2 F Judy C.
